Improving the environmental situation in basins of rivers Prut and Dniester through improved wastewater treatment systems in Chernivtsi and Cahul

On December 19, 2013 in the Chernivtsi region (Ukraine), Suceava County (Romania) and Drokiyskoho District (Republic of Moldova ) started the project CBC «improving the environmental situation in basins of rivers Prut and Dniester through improved wastewater treatment systems in Chernivtsi and Cahul» , code MIS-ETC: 1535. The project is implemented Chernivtsi city Council (m. Chernivtsi, Ukraine), in cooperation with Bukovyna center for reconstruction and development (m. Chernivtsi, Ukraine), Suceava county council (Romania) and District Council Drochia (Moldova). The project is implemented within the framework of the Joint Operational Programme “Romania – Ukraine – Moldova 2007-2013”. The total project cost is 1.159.190 euros (14.922.716 USD), of which the share of EU grant – 1.043.040 euros (13.427.471 USD). The project duration is 22 months. The main objective of the project is to improve the environmental situation in transboundary river basins Prut and Dniester by improving the management and implementation of innovative approaches to the treatment of wastewater in Chernivtsi and Cahul.
